synopsis:??two teenagers start their day on the opposite sides of the barricades during a racist demonstration by the english defence league. sam is harassed earlier in the morning and is fired up to prove she can fight alongside the boys. when she later watches her friends beat a young edl member, instead of joining the fight, she saves the boy. an??unlikely??friendship sparks when the two??teenagers are stuck in a shed hiding from threats??outside.
sam 16 – 18 year old asian girl, with a brown complexion, big eyes and long hair and who looks younger than 16. she is tough, street smart and assertive. a bit of a tomboy who hangs out mostly with boys and is always getting into trouble at school. with liberal asian parents she was brought up to be comfortable with who she is but is still discovering what that is as her identity is developing. she has a soft side that she doesn’t always like to show and is seen by other girls as one of the boys. sam goes through a transition from anger, mixed emotions, confusion to sympathy in the film. her world is tough and she has adapted to it. she could have quite an androgynous look with her hair under a hat could pass for a boy.

jon 16 – 17 year old boy who looks 15. he is caucasian, with very short almost shaved head. must be willing to cut hair very short for the film. he is slim with sharp cheekbones. he appears to be more tough than he is and although bullied by his brother, he can be a bully himself too. he starts out being a tough guy in front of his older brother under peer pressure harasses sam in the lift and is uncomfortable with it. later he is beaten in the street. actor must be willing to be in a choreographed street fight. jon likes football and likes to hang out with older boys.
