Insane, comically dangerous and wildly unpredictable, possibly bi-polar, At times outrageous or lacoinic, gallant or crude, althletic or lazy, possibly syphlitic, Mercutio is the key engine who drives the Montague/Capulet conflict to its devastating finale. Rapier and dagger experience helpful. Two of the shining glories of the play are Meructio's Queen Mab speech and his death scene, which ends ACT 1 of this 2-act production
Juliet's cousin-more-like-a-brother; a proud, honorable Capulet; a highly energetic, arrogant hot-head at times. Athletic, daring, barely restrained, and dangerous; controlled in comparison to Meructio's being the more comical and manic antagonist. Stage combat training/experience helpful.

three roles played by one actor; a versatile actor who opens and closes the show as the Chorus; becomes the handsome, attentive Count d'Paris, a viable and anxious suitor for Juliet's hand in marriage; and the angry, conflicted and frustrated Prince disgusted with the relentless civil disobedience of the Montagues and Capulets.
Romeo's father figure/mentor/guide; strict but bendable, spiritually wise but unrealistically optimistic. Down to earth, smart, well meaning, a paternal, loving man trying to balance harsh reality with hope for peace. (Also doubles briefly as Lord Montague and Peter, the comical servant.)
The caring, reasonable. stable, sane and sincere best friend. He alone balances Romeo's impetuousness, Mercutio's manic madness and Tybalt's explosive aggression. Realistic, cautious, and the only young survivor of the Montague-Capulet blood feud.
Smart, funny, innocent, determined. Romantic, but practical. A typical, yet over protected pretty young teen age girl who blossoms into a mature, manipulative and driven woman.
Juliet’s childhood care-giver, confidante, friend, substitute mother, and ally. Physically demonstrative, comic and occasionally outrageous, she become Juliet’s co-conspirator in Juliet’s marriage to Romeo, and then switches allegiance to Paris when all seems lost.
