FX Kindred, Dana is a young Black woman and aspiring writer who has abandoned her family's duty in order to pursue a writing career in Los Angeles. She is demeaned and terrorized by a group of slave catchers who, before she can settle into her new house, violently seize her back and forth in time to a 19th-century plantation with which she and her family are intimately linked. Interracial romance threads through her past and present, and the clock is ticking as she struggles to confront the secrets she never knew that ran through her blood.
