A well meaning, slightly anxious teen who’s just trying to shut down his own out-of-control house party. Constantly overwhelmed and unintentionally hilarious, he becomes the center of everyone’s petty drama and ultimately the victim of a ridiculous accident. Comedic timing and physical comedy hugely important.
Younger than Menendez. Chris P. Cock is Menendez’s assistant detective, earnest, snarky, and slightly more competent, but constantly exasperated by the absurdity of both the case and his partner. Dry humor, sharp reactions and subtle sarcasm are key. Must have good chemistry with Menendez.
A dramatic, image-obsessed teen whose confidence is tied entirely to her appearance. After Rick spills a drink on her outfit, she storms out of the party in an outrage and becomes extremely self-centered but comedic suspect. Need sharp comedic timing and ability to play big reactions with sincerity and authenticity.
An earnest but hilariously overwhelmed small-town detective facing his first ever “major” case. He tries to project authority but is completely out of his depth, juggling absurd suspects and mounting chaos. Strong dry clench, deadpan delivery and subtle physical reactions needed.
The unstoppable life-of-the-party, energetic, chaotic and completely unfazed by social cues. Even after the party ends, he keeps dancing, escalating conflict without meaning to. Big comedy energy, strong physicality and little flair ideal. Physically, should be on heavier side.
An emotionally overwhelmed, soft-spoken teen whose confidence retreats to the boiler room to cry after a painful interaction at the party. Through fragile, and bad moments of sharp and intense frustration, especially when Rick proves to be an awful listener. Requires strong subtle emotion and grounded comedic timing. Out of all roles, Mina requires the most emotional responses.
Ben is a wannabe tough guy whose bravado crumbles the moment his feelings get hurt. Desperate to impress his crush and easily set off, he’s all bark, no bite, until a burst of emotion accidentally comes entangles him in the “murder.” Needs strong comedic timing and ability to change from macho to vulnerable instantly and genuinely.
Smart, sweet, effortlessly popular and best of all, has no ego unlike Ilene. She lights up every scene with charm, warmth and by being a good person. Confident but approachable. Love interest of Ben Dover. Looking for a good person to anchor the film despite the chaos.
Mom figure. Sen. Dover is a sharp-rounded, quick witted and always two steps ahead (at least in her own mind). She thrives on teasing and testing those around her, but beneath the sarcasm and bravado lies a fiscally loyal, surprisingly tender heart. Need an actress who can nail rapid-fire humor, clever timing and the ability to pivot from wit to warmth.
Detective Asse is all business, he is gruff, relentless and sharp-eyed. Nothing slips past him, and he’s convinced he’s always one step ahead of everyone else. Underneath the hard exterior, though, there is a dry sometimes dark humor and surprising streak of empathy. Need an actor who can balance intensity with subtle comedic undertones making their authority real but not one dimensional. Be able to give and take status.
Preferably older than Rick. Wayne Kerr is a laid back stoner whose chill exterior masks a sharp and lazy wit. He drifts through situations with effortless ease and humor, occasionally stumbling into chaos without meaning to. Needs an actor who can do introspective stoner vibes. Released, spaced-out energy while landing the comedic timing. Shifts between goofy to unexpected insight.
Mysterious, intuitive, very otherworldly, shy, anxious, thoughtful. She seems to know more than she possibly could, always fearing the worst. She’s a loyal friend to Ella Vader, waiting in the bathroom for her to take her home. Needs a Scot who can convey nervous energy, with lowkey otherworldly sorceress. Not evil.
