seems that the black-ish star anthony anderson is also starring in the upcoming show which is described as a coming of age drama series which focuses on the hip hop music scene. “beats” is set in the chicago area and is also filming in chicago, at least for the show’s first season.
a recent deadline article stated that the show will focus on khalil everage, a 17-year-old newcomer from the south side of chicago. the deadline piece went on to say that the show’s star plays a musical prodigy who crosses paths with a manager who has fallen from grace. the duo will then attempt to take on the music scene while battling some of their past demons.
“beats” will be filming during this summer and is expected to hit our tv screens sometime in 2019. no exact premiere date has been announced by netflix as of yet. the new show will be executive produced by carrie holt de lama, mitch smith and e. brian dobbins.
