written in blood (working title) is a short psychological drama that follows mel, a 22-year-old aspiring writer who suffers from a split personality disorder that she is unaware that she has. mel believes marie (her “other self”) is a character in her dreams and is not aware that the consequences of marie’s actions will lead back to her.

the director is after several roles:

mark – a confident, pushing arrogant, young man in his early to mid-twenties who approaches mel in the bar. he is handsome but is very clearly aware of this. he is generally a ‘mans man’ – sporty, a large group of male friends.

males, aged 18 to 30

rupert – a naive young man in his early twenties. he is tall and slim but not particularly muscular. he is cautious in his choice of words and speaks slowly and precisely. he doesn’t have excellent people skills and is generally quite nervous.

charlie – an attractive man in his early twenties. he is slim and toned but not overly muscular. he is charming and witty, often making jokes out of his own misfortune. he is caring and sensitive to his and others emotions but when he is crossed, he leaves little room for forgiveness.

tracey – mel’s mother. she is middle-aged and extremely old fashioned. she looks good for her age but it is still clear that she is no longer a ‘young mum’. her relationship with her daughter is uncomfortable and she does not hesitate to show disapproval towards mel’s choices. she is blunt and harsh.

females, aged 40 to 99

chris – mel’s father. he is middle-aged but far more considerate than his wife. he has aged well; his hair is slightly greyed. he shows compassion for his daughter’s emotions and tries to soften some of the points his wife states so bluntly. he is somewhat awkward and is quite obviously under his wife’s control entirely. he loves his daughter but cannot go against his wife’s orders.

jane – jane is in her late teens to early 20s. she only has a small role towards the end of the film
