Star Wars is one of those storied franchises that lives on in the hearts and minds of fans and actors alike. As a result, reports of cast members like Laura Dern from The Last Jedi making "pew" noises on set are not only understandable, but also endearing. We can now add Adam Driver to the list, thanks to a recent interview with franchise stuntman Stephen Oyoung. During his early lightsaber training sessions, he apparently couldn't stop making noise.
Stephen Oyoung, a sword trainer who worked on Star Wars: The Force Awakens, talked about his experiences with Looper. And he'd been making lightsaber noises since the beginning. Keep in mind that this habit persisted even after he worked as a stunt/motion capture performer on a few Star Wars games prior to the great resurgence that launched the sequel trilogy. With that in mind, Oyoung was able to apply his knowledge to Adam Driver's training, as he explains below: “First day we were rocking with the lightsabers and he would just be [mouthing lightsaber noises]. Me too! And I had to remind him, 'Hey man, we've got to stop. Because when they film, you're going to start doing that. And then they're going to catch you. And it's going to be strange. You don't want to get into the habit.”
