My name is Hansen Matthew Burton. Born in St Elizabeth, Jamaica, I travelled with my parents as a toddler to live in the United Kingdom in the early 2000s. I've lived in the UK ever since and enjoyed my time growing up around british culture, while still be true my own heritage of Jamaica. In addition, to that ancestry, I'm not fully Jamaican; I'm mixed raced with American and parts of German as well, since specifically where I was born in Jamaica; St Elizabethans descend from German ancestry and ties. I've always had people over the years, who ask me for my strange no-english accent that I've always had. I don't know truly know why I never picked a british one, but I love the sound of my American/Jamaican tang nonetheless.
Acting has been has a recent revelation to me, really. I had always to be fitted with smart crowd of students who hone their skills with maths and science. But after my 13th birthday, I just became infatuated with learning the history behind films and film genres, that I've come to know in my life. I've just become a self-professed avid film fan and just decided 'this has to be my calling in life'. And so really, I joined the drama club in my school last year and did 2 small comedy skits where i was a main part and also had a hand in creating the stories as well. The two performances I was a part of last year were quite well received by my peers, teachers and parents alike. This year so far, my school just did an edited rendition of the classic Arthur Miller play, The Crucible, which was a senior production of sixth formers (myself included in that category), and Year 10-11s. We did two performances of the play lasting for 2 1/4 hours each, both times with parents and teachers coming out in praise and astonishment in our hard work. Other than that, I've also taken screenwriting and filmmaking, thus far making 1 un-completed short film in the editing process. I was sole actor, writer and director on the film, with my friends helping as assistants and cameramen. I'm a true friendly person and optimistic individual, with A-Levels to get through now and wishing to have a long career in the film industry when I get the chance to succeed.
