Pearl C. Peebles grew up in the southwestern part of rural Virginia on a working-class tobacco farm. As a youngster, Pearl entertained her family and friends with her singing and comedic antics until she left home at 19 years old−to move to Washington, DC−for employment opportunities and hopes of pursuing a career in the entertainment industry. After landing a clerk-typist position in the federal government to keep her struggling parents from worrying−she would beg them for money−she obtained an associate degree in Procurement and Public Contracting to transition into a Government Technical Monitor (GTM) position. After 35 ½ years of federal service, Pearl retired in December 2022−to fully pursue her career as a comedy cookbook author and entertainer.
Prior to retirement, Pearl stayed true to her gift of entertaining people with laughter, by entering the literary world with her self-published comedy cookbook called, “The Uncensored Home Cook: Comedic Storytelling of a Country Lady’s Resolution Recipes Most Home Cooks Are Too Afraid to Share”. Her objective for the comedy cookbook was to convey comedic philosophy in short stories to make a reader have an instant laugh−while connecting an effortless recipe to resolve their problematic issue. Thus far, the comedy cookbook continues to have a 5-Star rating on Amazon Prime.
Other entertainment highlights Pearl has accomplished has been being a special guest for cooking segments on “The Hampton Roads” lifestyle show and the Jacksonville Southern Women’s Show”; second place winner at the “Virginia State Fair” for the best Devil’s Food cake and pecan pie in the State of Virginia; grand prize winner on the “Price Is Right” 30th Anniversary game show; and vocalist winner on Amateur Night, at the World Famous Apollo Theatre.
