Tonysha Nelson, was born in Canada. Spending her earlier formative years there, before moving to Maryland. As one of the granddaughters of George Clinton, of (P-Funk), Tonysha got involved in singing, at a very young age. At the age of 20, she joined the ranks of Parliament Funkadelic, as a backup singer. Which she still does, today, touring worldwide. Tonysha, has performed at sold old, venues, in front of stadium packed crowds. She has also, had the privilege of sharing the stage with a variety of other major performers, while singing backup, in her grandfather’s band. Her vocal talent is heard on the Funkadelic album, “First Ya Shake The Gate” and is a featured lead singer, on George Clinton’s, single and music video of, “Ain’t That Funkin Kind of Hard on You”. Featuring, multi platinum rappers, Kendrick Lamar and Ice Cube. She also, lends her vocals, to the latest Parliament album, “ Medicaid Fraud Dog” and is featured on the song, “Psychotropic” and Proof is in the Pudding. Tonysha, has worked with, Sly Stone and Soul Clap. She has sang backup vocals on the Tonight Show, with Jimmy Fallon and The late Show starring Stephen Colbert. She’s worked with Mike Judge, on Tales From The Tour Bus, doing backup vocals. She’s worked with Video Director, Gabriel Hart (Video God) and will soon be working with Neil Bogart, on the biopic, “Spinning Gold”. Tonysha, also forms one half of the R&B group, Kandy Apple Redd. Along with her cousin Patavian Lewis. Although,music has been her primary focus, she still has other talents that have yet,to be explored. She’s ready to venture into acting and modeling and has started taking classes at Tsaw Tasha Smith, actors workshop. Tonysha’s,passion to entertain, has no boundaries and she’s ready to take,this uncharted journey,to the next level!
